Description

Popularly known as the ‘Lovers of Isurumuniya’, this is perhaps the best known amorous couple in early Sri Lankan sculpture. Dated to about the 6th or 7th century A. D. and considered by some as divine by others as human, the relief finds a prominent place at the Museum in the Isurumuniya temple premises.
